Lorde Says She’s “in Awe” of Taylor Swift

Last month, during Taylor Swift's tour of Australia, she and Lorde were spotted together several times, including at Taylor's 24th birthday party.  Now, Lorde is gushing about Taylor in a new interview, saying that she's literally awestruck by her pal's performance ability.

Speaking to Rookie magazine, Lorde is asked to name some of the artists who have most impressed her live in concert.  She mentions everyone from Kanye West, to rock legend Stevie Nicks, to alt-rockersArcade Fire, before adding, "And I almost forgot about Taylor!  Taylor is like…she is so good as a performer. I don’t think people realize how difficult a stadium is to perform in."

Lorde, who saw Taylor rock a stadium first-hand during the RED Australian tour, explains, "You have to change how you move and how you talk to accommodate that scale, and she is SO good at that. It feels natural when she does it. I’m so in awe of her ability, it’s insane."

Her favorite, though, remains Kanye.  Noting that she appeared on the same British TV show as the rapper at one point last year, she recalls, "He did this performance of 'Bound 2'…I saw three minutes of it, and to this day it was the best musical performance I’ve ever seen."

In the wide-ranging Rookie interview, which takes in everything from songwriting to peer pressure, the Grammy-nominated singer also discusses her famously huge hair, and how she manages it.  "The trick for me is, don’t wash your hair that much," Lorde confides. "I wash my hair a couple times a week, sometimes once a week, sometimes once every two weeks."

She also says she tames her mane with one particular product that's made by Sebastian, but because it's expensive, she advises readers, "Just find some sort of like creamy situation and scrunch it into your hair when it’s wet and then let it dry. No blow-drying, no brushing. Peace."
